SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News)- One person was killed when a federal fugitive task force got into a shoot out with that person.

The call came in just before 12:30 Wednesday afternoon. Neighbors near 940 South Lake street say screeching tires got their attention.

"I looked out and saw a police officer running and then heard pop, pop, pop," says Amy Ballard who lives on the street.

Dead was one person who was seen still inside a white pickup. Police won't release any details of her gender but say she got into a confrontation with police moments before the shooting started.

"(Person) was involved in an altercation with a South Salt Lake police officer who fired and the individual was killed in the incident," says Sgt. Shawn Josephson.

Meanwhile a block away another scene was developing.

Police had ordered those living there out of their homes.

"They informed me there were two women who were suspects in the shooting of two officers Saturday," says John Cornell. "One (suspects) was shot and killed on Lake street,"

Police refused to confirm if the dead person was a woman but did confirm the person was wanted in the robbery at a Murray restaurant on Saturday.

Sgt. Josephson says the dead person is not Sandra Chotia-Thompson who is wanted by Murray police.

"We are still looking for her," Sgt. Josephson says.

If you know Chotia-Thompson's whereabouts, call 801.799.3000. She should be considered armed and dangerous. Anonymous tips may be sent by texting TIPSLCPD plus information to CRIMES (274637).
