MILBURN, Utah (AP) - MILBURN, Utah - A year ago, the price of lambs intended for slaughter was soaring to record levels. This year, the sheep industry across the West faces extreme volatility in prices and the effects of a harsh drought.
Doug Livingston is a retired sheep rancher who now works as a sheep broker. He's trying to help an eastern Utah rancher sell his herd and get out of the business.
Livingston told the Deseret News for a story Monday that he's in his 60s and this is the worst year he's ever seen.
But the Utah Woolgrowers Association officials say they are unaware of any ranchers who have actually gone out of business.
