SALT LAKE CITY, (ABC 4 News) -  Two Salt Lake City Motorcycle officers were involved in a traffic accident at 400 South and 400 West.

The accident occurred moments after a Salt Lake fire truck driving westbound passed through the intersection while responding to a call.

A group of three police officers on motorcycle were assisting with traffic. The officers headed eastbound to leave the scene, when a woman heading North on 400 West accelerated and hit two of the three officers.

Police say the woman behind the wheel had a green light and may not have seen the officers.

A witnesses said the officers were thrown from their bikes and landed on the street.

"I'm surprised the copes would make a mistake like that," Certoran Marcus, a witness, said. "It's not something you would expect."

Police are investigating the accident and would not say was at fault.

The two officers were transported to University Hospital with minor injuries. Each are expected to be okay.

The woman who hit the officers was not injured.
