SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - The Salt Lake City Council plans to vote Tuesday night on a proposed ordinance that would allow bars or pubs in residential areas.

Some council members say they don't think these businesses should be in neighborhoods that have single-family dwellings.

Councilman Luke Garrott says that businesses would still have to go to the Utah Department of Alcohol Beverage Control to acquire individual liquor licenses.

The ordinance was proposed by Mayor Ralph Becker as part of his campaign for walkable communities.
