SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A power outage left thousands without electricity for several hours Friday evening.

At the peak of the outage, roughly 17,000 people were without power. Most in Salt Lake City, and thousands more in Park City. We spoke with Nicole Brooks as she was sweating it out on her front porch in Salt Lake.

"It's hot, no A/C, the fridge isn't working, nothing," Brooks said.

Rocky Mountain Power said Friday evening's high winds knocked down power lines, causing the outage. Crews worked into the night to get the power back up and running.

The power just went out at our house at around 9:20pm, so this story is not over. We live between Park City and Herber City and every one within several miles is without power.
