SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - More than 50,000 people have voted early (in person) in Salt Lake County. Another 80,000 have sent early ballots in by mail.
County Election Clerk Sherrie Swensen says by the time Election Day rolls around, about 40 % of county voters will already have cast ballots.
Kristin Ashton, who voted early Thursday, told ABC 4 that she cast her ballot ahead of time because she is soon expecting the birth of her son.
We also ran into another early voter with an interesting story.
Fatima Baher came to Utah from Afghanistan. Thursday, she voted for the very first time.
Early voting in Utah ends Friday at 5pm.
