WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Police are asking for help from the public in identifying a truck used during a drive-by shooting in West Valley City.

The shooting happened Tuesday at approximately 1210 p.m.at the Shell gas station on 4018 West 4100 South. Police told ABC 4 the shooters were driving a silver or white Toyota truck. 

"As I was pulling in, the silver truck was backing through the parking lot," said Kelly Woodley, witness.

"Other than that we don't have a description," said Sgt. Amy Maurer, West Valley City Police Dept.

Police said a 54-year-old man sustained injuries to his legs from a gunshot, and was transported to an area hospital. They said investigators believe the victim was not the intended target of the shooting but he happened to be in the “wrong place at the wrong time.” 

Witnesses said the parking lot was full of people, the shooting left many of them extremely frightened. 

"They were scared to death," said Sharon Neilson, witness.  

Police tell ABC 4 tbey haven't identified the shooters, and no arrests have been made in connection with the case. They claim the investigation is ongoing, but need help from the public.
