SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Police have arrested an 18-year-old girl in connection with a stabbing late Sunday night.

Nyree LaJae Hicks was arrested Monday afternoon after Police say she stabbed a 19-year-old female Sunday evening at Sun River Apartments on 1080 West 3300 South in South Salt Lake City.

Police say the investigation revealed that fight was in retaliation an earlier altercation that occurred at a park, and that the motive for the fight appears to be a love triangle over a man who is currently in jail.

Officers located a 19 year-old female victim in the apartment parking lot with a stab wound on the back of her neck.

The female victim was transported to an area hospital in fair condition, according to police.

Witnesses told police that Hicks was holding a knife and glass bottle just before the stabbing.

Hicks was booked into the Salt Lake County Adult Detention Center on one count of aggravated assault, a second-degree felony.
