OGDEN, Utah (ABC 4 News) – Ogden will be getting a new homeless shelter.
Weber County announced Wednesday that the St. Anne’s Homeless Shelter will be changing its name to the “Lantern House.”
When it first opened in the 1980’s, St. Anne's Homeless Shelter served a few hundred people per week. Now, hundreds of people are served per day.
The shelter, which serves around 52,000 hot meals per year to those in need, will also be housed in a new building.
The land for the new shelter was reportedly donated by the City of Ogden.
Other donors include the LDS Church who donated $1.5 million, and the Eccles Foundation who contributed $1 million to help support the new Lantern House shelter.
