WASHINGTON FIELDS, Utah (AP) - Authorities have identified two St. George residents who were killed when the car they were in plunged over a cliff in southern Utah.

Washington County sheriff's officials say 30-year-old Jacqueline K. Mertin and 37-year-old Robert K. Evans were found dead in the mangled wreckage discovered early Saturday at the bottom of a 300-foot ravine.

Authorities say a survivor of the crash called 911 and was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George.

Witnesses say the trio had been drinking Friday night at a campground near Washington Fields. They were then seen in a small car driving erratically without headlights in the dark on rugged dirt roads.
