TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (ABC 4 News) - One man is in jail after ramming a patrol car and leading police on a high-speed chase throughout Taylorsville Friday night.

A Unified Police Authority detective's patrol car was rammed, injuring the officer, when it approached a suspicious vehicle, said Lt. Rose Rivera of the Unified Police Department.

Unified Police, as well as the West Valley City Police Department, were conducting a multi-agency enforcement project, involving stolen vehicles, when they encountered the chase.

Rivera says the chase ranged from 50 to 70 m.p.h. She said police felt it was safe to pursue the suspect after assaulting an officer.

The suspect and the injured officer were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
