FARMINGTON- Many Davis County residents were up in arms tonight over proposed alignments for UDOT's West Davis Corridor proposal.
Monday's protesters don't want the corridor plans moved west into Farmington, like many of their neighbors.
They're in support of the plan called "C-1".
That option would keep the new corridor running North/ South next to I-15 .
Supporters believe that option has the least impact on existing homes and wetlands.
"It will save acres of habitat and the little birdies and save 450 homes," says "Save Farmington" spokeswoman, Anita Todd. "It's a better deal all around."
Supporters also say the plan would carry traffic through downtown businesses in Farmington, boosting the economy.

Sort of scary to think that Anita todd ran for Farmington City council. She seems to be demonstrating a very closed minded and one sided position right now.

and now Anita Todd starts slinging the mud at one of Farmington neighbors (posted on Save Farmington facebook group). It sounds to me that Jim is the intelligent, Christ-like person in this argument. Jim M: I was pretty disappointed at last nite's meeting at Eagle Bay. This road is going to happen one way or the other. I really think our focus needs to be on the manner and materials with which it is built. Tons of time and energy were put into this effort for the current Legacy highway and it seems to have worked out pretty well (ok, not so well for about 1000 raccoons...) It may sound cheesy and naive, but we really do need to find a way to come together as a community to ensure that wherever this road goes, it impacts those nearby as little as possible. We have an amazing place to live; be it Ranches, Meadows, Creeks or Crossings... Let's work to save as much of that as possible. Anita Richards Todd: Sorry you feel that way, Jim. Obviously you didn't stop by the "FACTS" area and view the UDOT map showing two preferences for coming through Farmington. Hence there are two differing opinions. The meeting was very informative for those who... were there to get the Facts on this complicated issue. *** I'm afraid you truly are being cheesy and naive. ***

Check out the old maps of the Ranches ... Anita's home sits on what was once "wetlands" ... specifically a pond. So much for her "little birdies". She pushed them further west but now she prefers that a highway go through the middle of a neighborhood, displacing families, endangering children, causing a traffic bottleneck, and taking away the rural community feeling that Kaysville and Farmington currently enjoys? I don't get it. Too hypocritical.

Sounds like this Anita Todd woman is spreading misinformation. Go to UDOT's website and you will see that 10 homes would be affected for both routes - 450 homes saved by going C-1, that's a crock. So here is what Anita Todd won't tell you about the C-1 Option (Shepard Connector). UDOT's proposed Shepard Lane Connector option for the West Davis Corridor is mind-numbingly stupid. If you think I-15 through Kaysville/Farmington is a mess now, wait until UDOT tries to merge traffic from the West Davis Corridor onto I-15 for a few miles, and then have that traffic get off at Legacy Parkway. Two words: MAJOR BOTTLENECK!! West Davis Corridor, according to UDOT, is supposed to be an "alternative route" to I-15. Then why is UDOT proposing an option that connects back onto I-15 for a few miles? Why not go around Farmington and connect directly into Legacy Parkway??? It's the only option that makes sense (and no, it won't destroy 450 homes, or was it 1000 homes??, or maybe only 10 homes??) Say no to the Shepard Connector Option if you don't want to see I-15 bottlenecks as a result of UDOT's short-sighted plans. Send comments to westdavis@utah.gov

per UDOTS statistic 10 homes will be demolished on both proposed routes, 450 homes will not be demolished, but are within 1/4 mile of the proposed Glover Lane route. The Glover Lane option does not make a mess of I-15, does not divide a community in half or Dead End back road travel as the Shepard Lane option does. It is very interesting that the spokeswoman built in the Ranches were the water table it very high and many are not allowed to build basements, old Google maps show a pond where her house is now. Worried about wildlife, then houses should not invade wet lands. Many have said that the wildlife has not been negatively affected by the current Legacy Highway, some say the wildlife is now thriving. Yes the road is coming! Let's make it a true alternative and not make a mess of I-15. If the roads come together and I-15 is shut down due to an accident or rail disaster traffic would be at a stand still, but if the West Corridor was out west and didn't align with I-15 there is a good chance traffic could still flow north and south.
