SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Mormon democrats are about to get a national audience, and they have Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to thank.

According to a New York Times blog entry, Reid helped organize an event in Charlotte during the Democratic National Convention on September 4th.

The LDS Democratic Caucus plans to have not only Reid in attendance, but also fellow Mormons Congressman Jim Matheson and New Mexico Senator Tom Udall.

The group expects to draw about 200 motivated Mormons from around the country at the event, planned for Sept. 4 at a hotel next to the convention arena, according to the NYT.

Reid will be the keynote speaker during the event.
