SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) - Matthew Breck took a plea in the killing of Anna Palmer. Breck, who was linked to the case by DNA just a few months ago, took the plea deal in court Friday afternoon.

“It's been a long time coming,” said Nancy Palmer, Anna’s mother. “Hopefully now we can go past her death and remember the good things."

It's been 13-years since Anna Palmer was found brutally murdered on the front porch of her Salt Lake City home.

And it was another dozen years before a suspect was charged.

Friday, Matthew Breck pleaded guilty to murdering Anna.

Judge Judith Atherton immediately sentenced Breck to life in prison without a chance for parole.

Breck agreed to those conditions as part of the plea agreement.

He was originally charged for aggravated murder with the death penalty.

Nancy Palmer said she was okay with the plea bargain in order to move on with her life.

“The most important thing was that justice was done and the person responsible is being held accountable and will be there for the rest of his life,” she said.
