TOOELE, Utah (ABC4 News) – Women are usually the victims of domestic violence, but in rare cases men are victims too.

Mike Sorrels was allegedly stabbed by his wife, Tiffany Buhler, over the weekend. Excerpts from the 911 call he made are below.

Mike: Yeah, I've been stabbed in the chest. There's blood all over the place.

Operator: Mike, can you tell me who stabbed you?

Mike: My wife.

Operator: Your wife stabbed you?

Mike: Yes. Please hurry.

Sorrels told the operator his wife used a kitchen knife on him. He used paper towels to stop the bleeding until helped arrived.

Mike: You have no idea what I’ve been through with my wife.

Operator: I don’t. I don’t. It sounds like it’s been really rough.

Sorrels was taken to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray. As of Monday night he remained at the hospital in stable condition.

Tiffany Buhler is in Tooele County Jail facing attempted homicide and domestic assault charges.

Keri Jones, with the YWCA, works with domestic violence victims. She said many things can lead to abuse.

“We do know stressors are high in families during the holidays,” Jones said. “A myriad of things can influence issues in the home.”

Finances and family relationships can stress out people the most.

Domestic violence shelters service men, women and children. If you or someone you know may be a victim, there is help available.

Call the YWCA Hotline at 801-537-8600 for service in the Salt Lake County area. You can also call the Statewide Link Line for domestic violence at 1-800-899-LINK (5465).

In rare cases? What rock do you live under? It happens just as often but the man is the one who always goes to jail. What a warped society to believe that the women are all innocent.

News agencies usually don't report the names of victims of domestic violence. Since the husband turned out to be the victim in this case, why was his name released?
