WEST VALLEY CITY (ABC 4 News) - Police in West Valley City say a man was arrested for suspicion of child rape Wednesday.

Police say there may be a second victim.

According to West Valley City Police Sgt. Mike Powell, 26-year-old Cecilio Avila was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of rape of a child.

Powell said Avila sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl at a La Quinta Inn on Feb. 1.

Powell told ABC 4 the intercourse between the two was consensual but illegal under state law because of their ages.

Powell said the investigation into Avila's activities was ongoing and that he may have had a second victim, because another underage girl was with the couple at the hotel.

Powell said Avila and the victim knew each other, but were not related.

i agree with concerned777. we should star by convicting the ones we are sure about, like Wall Street "string pullers" who have out this country where it currently is financially. The list goes on but I think ppl catch my drift.

I think that everyone deserves to know that he is not legal!!! he is a citizen of Mexico and was born there. He is listed as White on the Metro County Jail roster. I hate to say it but we really need to stop making mistakes like this because we have a serious issue on our hands with immigration. The race needs to be stated clearly so we can figure out what the accurate crime rate is before making the final decision.
