nobody should be attacking a individuals religious beliefs unless you can back up your claim. i am going to assume o'donnell is catholic, since he has a irish surname. it takes a lot of gall to attack ANY religion when your own has been involved in priest raping boys.

It is amazing that all the negative comments on here are be Former members. That wouldn't be because they have an axe to grind? Although there are something things in the past for the LDS church that can appear very negative taken in the wrong context, that could be done with most if not all religions. If you disagree with the Mormons, don't be one. I have attended quite a few religious ceremonys for different sects and seen what I thought to be unusual. I DIDN'T JOIN THEM.

Well, I didn't "grow up" in the church, so apparently not all believers are "brainwashed" from birth! Actually, I read some of the Book of Mormon and prayed about it, and asked God if it was true. For the first time in my life, I actually asked him anything...and he answered me that it IS true! I'm not crazy, on drugs, or LYING!! It happened. Since then, I have read, researched constantly, prayed, etc., and one of the things that strengthens my belief in the restoration of the church, (as was prophesied in the bible), is the constant persecution. Satan wouldn't feel the need to harden so many hearts against it if it weren't true.

well, actually, catwoman, rationalman, and (gulp!) o'donnell, are pretty much factually correct on their assertions about the LDS church. hyperbole aside, the inconvienant truths behind the Mormon religion are astounding, not to mention shocking at times. i could list fact, after fact, after fact, about the church and it's checkered past- all quoting official LDS publications, official LDS websites, and their "scriptures"- that would curl your toes. and as an ex-mormon myself, i was taught many of these things by my elders and bishops. the truth isn't hateful. truth is truth. if you refuse to believe it, well, that's not my fault. i'm so glad that God finally opened my eyes to His truth, that it is by grace we are saved, through faith, and this not of works, so that no man can boast, it is a gift of God. and that's just the beginning!

Down with the haters. It's fine to not believe but to continue the lies is another. Sorry but Catwoman and Rationalman your comments are wrong. Don't believe that is fine. But hate is never good. Keep with your Atheist views on life, your allowed. But so are the believers.

As an ex Mormon I don't believe he apologized for stating fact. If you was able to read more on the origin of this cult you would be surprised at how much it resembles the Muslim or Islam beliefs. The church has invested money in hiding the little known facts from its members and the world. The signs on the front of the Temple are the same as the ones on the Masons Temple. They are a scraping up of all religions and their beliefs to appeal to people. The Temple Rites are shrouded in mystery and if you tell about them you take an oath of death to keep them secret. It's a brainwashing at birth like all religions and this one is as much fanatical as the Muslims. They murdered non believers at the Mountain Meadow Massacre and the U.S. Gov't has information on this religion as far back as Old Joe Smith. I think tar and feathering was for people running out on their debts. The Book Of Mormon is another story it's their Bible and completely un provable, the tribes and stories in it are unprovable with history, unlike the Bible. They claim the Bible isn't translated correctly but the Book Of Mormon has over 3,000 changes to it over the years. Read an original (OOPS! they're not available anymore) and it's halarious reading. It also contains mythology in it, a c**k-a-trice? Whatever that is.....

I cannot believe that O'Donnell caved to wacko religious pressure over his comments about Joseph Smith and the Mormon Church. I was raised in 'the Church' and O'Donnell's characterization of how polygamy got started is pretty much how I have always understood it, and my fellow ex-Mormon friends all thought O'Donnell was pretty accurate. Members of the Mormon Church know lots of ugly truths about the Church that they don't like to admit, but they are still true. This is just one example. The Mormon Church is a monster, and should be harshly criticised, as well as the sheep who are sucked in by it.
