Lightning sparks fires on Arizona Strip

PHOENIX (ABC 4 News) - Lightning sparked fires on the Arizona Strip Wednesday afternoon, causing heavy smoke problems in St. George, Utah.

The Plateau Wildfire has burned 450,000 acres. The Hobble Fire is currently at 18,000 acres.

The city of St. George in Utah is experiencing heavy smoke and has advised residents to stay indoors.

Several ranching structures, like outbuilding and barns, are threatened.

Road closures in the area were pending Thursday afternoon.

No evacuations have been reported.
