It's interesting that this comment is from the City Council that is completely driving this property development and NOT by the LDS Church that is the actual owner of the property. http://westlayton.com/2012/10/20/city-council-proposes-to-stomp-on-voters-rights/

While I appreciate 4 news covering this regional story, I am a bit disappointed in the lack of discussion of any of the real issues. I personally live near the development and will be voting for it. The 6,500 signatures were not signatures against, they were signatures to get the issue on the ballot. I know quite a few people who signed the petition who will be voting for the propositions, they just wanted to do their due diligence and get all of the facts. For anyone wanting to discuss the issues please take a few minutes and browse laytonfacts.com. Also, maybe it was just the way it was edited, but was one of Mr. Day's arguments against the development that he didn't like cleaning garbage out of a ditch?

I am disappointed that this story only presents one side of the issue. There are no statements provided by Layton City official or residents of Layton who are wholeheartedly in support of this new zoning classification and the smart growth and development it represents. This story also leaves the viewer with the impression that this is a fight pitting Layton City against the residents. Let me state, in no uncertain terms, that there is a very large body of Layton citizens who are strongly in favor of Propositions 2 and 3. I live in a subdivision directly west of this parcel of property. My neighborhood and community will directly be affected by the outcome of this vote. I, and many of my neighbors, will be voting YES to Props 2 and 3. We are working tirelessly to educate voters about the real issues. I hope those in favor of these Propositions will be given equal time to present our views.
