SALT LAKE CITY - (ABC 4 News) - This is as last minute as it gets.

"Merry Christmas Eve!"

Shoppers at City Creek have no shame saying why they waited until the last day.

"People we forgot about," explained Elna Hamp.

"Just this last gift, I had to come and get it," said Jon Knight.

City Creek's General Manger, Linda Wardell said they weren't sure what to expect.

“It's our first Christmas Eve ever at City Creek, and as you can see, our shoppers are out in force today," said Linda.

As far as what type of shoppers were out on Monday, I asked a few people.

"I hate to be stereotypical, but I am helping a lot of desperate men today," Linda said.

"A lot of men, last minute, it's pretty funny helping them out," said Macy’s Employee Tiffany Moretti.

“I had one man who just offered me his credit card, and said if I just sit right here on this bench, will you just take my credit card and go shopping for me," Linda told me.

“Just trying to find the right gift for the loved ones,” said Johnny Soter.

But is this procrastination that could actually be smart?

“Pretty much I leave it until the last day. Sometimes you can get pretty good deals," explained Rodrigo Guillen.

"There are a lot of discounts," said Jon.

With just hours remaining, it's a race against time.

“Better get the shopping done quick, because Christmas is coming," Rodrigo said.
