SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Unprecedented.

This how the LDS Church is referring to its Easter weekend social media blitz.

YouTube.
Facebook.
Twitter.
Google plus.
Pinterest.

If you're on any of these this weekend, you may well see ads from the LDS Church.

In fact, the Church tells ABC 4 that anywhere from 10 to 50 million people may eventually view all or part of these special videos.

Ron Wilson, who handles internet and advertising matters for the LDS Church, told ABC 4,

"We think it’s important to use technology to get the message out about the restored gospel, about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints."

Starting Friday and going through the weekend, when you click on certain YouTube videos, you will see paid ads from the LDS Church.

Church officials say this is a first for YouTube and for them.

Wilson says,

“We're always looking to see what's out there, what's coming, what can be used."

Wilson also says these videos are meant to enhance Easter for some people and as reminders that Mormons are Christians and worship Jesus Christ.

But with Mitt Romney poised to become the first Mormon presidential nominee of a major American party, some have questioned the timing of this social media blitz.

So ABC 4 asked the LDS Church if there was any connection.

ABC 4 News: "Some people might look at this and think, ok, this is related to Mitt Romney running for president."

Wilson: “We’ve definitely had those questions and I can assure you it has nothing to do with any politician, anything to do with politics.”

I don't get this idea that Mormon's constantly complain about persecution, I don't see that happening myself... I think if that mentality exists, it's from a minority of the membership. Generally there is a strong conservative mentality in the church in which we don't allow ourselves excuses. There's a strong sense of self sufficiency. If certain individuals use past or present excuses of persecution to try and get sympathy or perks, it's not because they are following any church teachings. Jesus said that you have the choice to get your blessings from God or from man. If only do good things, or bring up persecutions to get the glory of man, then you have your reward, but if you do it for God's glory then he will reward you with his blessings.

I keep reading that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a CULT but I'm not sure what that means. So many people have different definitions. Its sort of like saying something is BAD and "BAD" can have lots of different meanins.

The irony of this is that they are using the web for their lies, when in reality the web exposed them, but they will die believing the lies!

Kudos to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for their media blitz. I would much rather have Gospel teachings "constantly in my face" rather than the immorality of mainstream Hollywood media.

Yep. And when anyone challenges the nonsense they pedal, the majority of Mormons cry "persecution!" What other than a corporate cult launches a "media blitz"?
