LOGAN, Utah (AP) - The remains of an Idaho soldier killed in Afghanistan have been returned to his family.

The body of U.S. Army Specialist Cody Moosman was flown into the Logan-Cache Airport on Wednesday.

Police Chief Val Sparrow, from Preston, Idaho, was among a large law enforcement presence at the ceremony.

Sparrow says it was a "solemn and fitting tribute."

The Herald Journal of Logan reports a small crowd gathered as the white charter plane taxied down the runway. Two crew members then unloaded the American flag-draped casket to a waiting hearse. A funeral is set for Friday in Preston.

Officials say the 24-year-old was killed in Afghanistan July 3. Moosman was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, in Fort Riley, Kan.
