MIDVALE, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Bad news for bug haters; when temperatures rise so do the number of bugs trying to get inside your home.
The pest control specialists at Truly Nolan have been spraying down homes all over the Wasatch front this summer. With the mild winter and extremely warm temperatures this summer, the bugs are coming out or rather coming in.
Tyler Engh from Truly Nolan said, "Most of the calls are spiders, ants and wasps."
It was one lonely spider that prompted this visit to a home in Midvale.
Jennifer Bowen said, “I had a spider drop down yesterday from the ceiling and land on my arm. I freaked out, got rid of it and truly Nolan showed up today."
Bowen has been a Truly Nolan customer for nearly a decade. "I hate bugs,” said Bowen. “I cannot stand bugs at all."
After checking out the inside of the house, Engh moves to the outside of the home. Unlike years past, pest control companies don't spray down the inside of the home with insecticides and other chemicals those are saved for the exterior of the home.
Engh said, "The spiders and insects aren't coming inside going out, they're coming from the outside going in so treating on the outside really is the best way to take care of any of your pest problems."
No matter how it's done Bowen says she wants the problem taken care of. "Just for sanity sake and cleanliness, I don't want them in here,” said Bowen.
If you don’t want to have to call an exterminator, but want bugs out of your house Engh says make sure spider webs are cleaned up and that there's no food or water readily available. For you pet owners that means keeping your dog food and cat food put away.
