SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Incumbent republican Governor Gary Herbert was won re-election over democratic challenger Peter Cooke by a wide margin Tuesday night.
With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Herbert beat out Cooke by a 68 to 28 percent margin.
For Herbert, winning reelection means he will be able to complete his first full term, having been appointed to the office after Jon Huntsman Jr. resigned to become ambassador to China in 2009. He was required to run in a special election in 2010 in order to keep the office until the regular-scheduled 2012 election year.
