TAMPA (ABC 4 News) - This is day two of the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida.
Wednesday morning, Utah's convention delegation heard from rising GOP
star Governor Chris Christie who gave Tuesday's night keynote address.
But the media wasn't allowed to listen to the governor talk to Utah's Republicans.
This, however, didn't stop ABC 4 from trying to interview Christie.
Christie is the governor of New Jersey.
He is also a huge Bruce Springsteen fan.
So, I assumed he would be happy to talk to us about this.
But in New Jersey, they roll a little bit differently then they do in Utah.
Before the governor pulled up to the hotel of Utah's delegation, the media was told there would be no questions (no surrender).
In other words, kind of a Tenth Avenue freeze out.
And when Christie arrived, he indeed would not answer our questions.
But half an hour later, when Christie was leaving the hotel, ABC 4 tried again.
We asked, "Governor, one quick Springsteen question?"
But Christie said, "No questions today. Thanks, though."
While he wouldn't answer that, we weren't about to let him head down the
Thunder Road without another try.
So, I yelled, "What Springsteen song best describes Romney."
We could see the governor smiling at the question but not when I continued to stand by his car.
On our ABC 4 camera, we captured the governor eventually shooting me a bit of a look and shaking his head.
I stood there sheepishly with my finger raised asking for just one question.
Christie, though, headed off into the Florida morning.
Because, baby, he was born to run.
