SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Gov. Gary Herbert and his staff plan to volunteer at the Utah Food Bank on the eve of a statewide hunger action day.
Officials say the volunteer effort in Salt Lake City will happen Friday.
Herbert's also scheduled to declare Saturday as Hunger Action Day, which includes a food drive at Wal-Marts throughout Utah.
The governor's office says 472,000 Utahns are at risk of missing one or more meals a day, and 1 in 8 Utah children lives in poverty.
