SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Gov. Gary Herbert has ordered flags at state-owned facilities be flown at half-staff in remembrance of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Herbert issued a statement saying Utah would never forget one of the nation's darkest days and the deaths of nearly 3,000 people in the attacks 11 years ago.

Congress has designated the anniversary as Patriot Day and also as a National Day of Service and Remembrance. Herbert and his staff are launching a food drive to mark the day of service, and plan to donate the goods to the Utah Food Bank later this month.
