SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - The Salt Lake City Gay Pride Festival is being called the best party of the year.

With an anticipated attendance that will exceed the 2010 attendance of 25,000 people, this year's festival is expected to draw larger crowds downtown than the Days of '47.

Comedian Roseanne Barr appeared onstage Saturday to help open the festival.  The festivities will continue throughout the weekend, beginning with the Utah Pride Parade on Sunday at 10 a.m. at Washington Square.

The festival features booths, food vendors, and entertainment, and makes for what festival goer Kelly Birch calls "a valuable experience for people to come and actually be with people that share their values."

For festival attendee Ron Hunt, the festival provides a "real important opportunity for people to come together."

"It's a really nice event for the entire valley," said Hunt.

Tickets for the festival are only $10 and can be purchased at the gate.

For more information about the festival, and for a complete listing of events, visit the festival's website at http://utahpridefestival.org/.

Many/Most churches will not allow gay marriage, however the MO church needs to learn how to butt out of things. People are fine with other's beliefs, as long as they don't shove them down YOUR throat, like the MO church did with Prop 8 in California. As long as the mormon cult minds its own business, things will be fine, and church-members might be able to get off their Prozac too!

The Church won't support gay marriage even after it becomes law. It's against their basic morals.

it would be so nice if htey could parade in front of the big mormon church, while respecting the churchs property and pls dont be too extreme in shoiwng off your bods. Whiel the church wont support marriage until its stuffed down their throat under civil law, they have made progress re anti-discimination laws re jobs and housing in SLC and the county. Keeping the churhc in the loop, letting them know you will respect their reasonable wishes re their property etc, will go a long ways to create discourse.
