LAS VEGAS (AP) - A man accused of running over a Utah police officer with a stolen vehicle in 1999 is being returned in custody from Las Vegas to Utah to face criminal charges.

Sgt. Craig Martinez says the 36-year-old known to police in Orem, Utah, as Reinhold Neumann was on his way Thursday to Utah County Jail.

Neumann had been sought on several warrants, including one charging him with attempted murder of a police officer.

He was arrested Aug. 30 while working at a Las Vegas Strip casino restaurant under the name Joaquin Lopez-Caraballo.

Neumann had been arrested in Pasadena, Calif., in 2003 and returned to Utah, but was freed on $50,000 bond and disappeared.

Police say he was identified in Las Vegas after a recent arrest on a drunken driving charge.
