DRAPER, Utah (ABC 4 News) – Friends and family believe Adam Colosimo is looking down on them with a smile.

“I’d say Adam is like a guardian angel for all of us,” Wyatt Parkin said.

Over 1,000 people attended a vigil held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Friday.

“It really just shows how much Adam affected everyone’s lives,” Dakota Cox said.

Cox played football with Adam. He said the 16-year-old set the best example on and off the field.

“Everyone wanted to be like him,” Cox added. “If everyone was like Adam, the world would be a lot better.”

Friends said the memorial is a small way to start the healing process.

“It's been really tough,” Parkin said. “Adam was like a brother to me. It's going to be really hard to get through it.”

A message left by a basketball teammate read: A young man whose heart was as big as the universe and whose soul lives in our hearts always.

”It’s hard, but he's in a better place,” Caitlin Keenan, a close friend, added.

A funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
