MILLCREEK Utah (ABC 4 News) - He calls himself the Rev. David Charles Baker.
On Youtube he has several interviews of himself espousing everything from his presidential campaign to getting guns and ammo in Utah.
But a former friend says he's far from spiritual.
“We thought he’s capable of killing himself, people or law enforcement,” says the former friend Kristen Ulmer. “He’s very dangerous.”
Ulmer says she first met Baker 20 years ago at Snowbird. She says Baker was a wonderful and funny friend. But two years ago she says his personality changed.
“He thought his close friends hurt him,” she says.
Sunday, Ulmer found David Baker on her driveway. She believes Baker thought no one was home.
“He threw a suitcase onto my deck,” she says. “He started to defecate near the front door and he left three other items including something in my mailbox.”
She says Baker was angry because she wouldn't do him a favor.
“He came over to our house and threatened me,” Ulmer says. “His last of his five dogs was very sick and he wanted me because of my connections to get him a private jet to take his dog to his wife in Canada.”
But she wouldn’t do it and he left. Ulmer says Baker left and the bomb squad was called in. They detonated the suitcase but no bomb was found inside, just pornography according to police.
Unified Police arrested Baker several hours later at his home near 3900 South and 3100 East. Baker refused to come out and police forced their way into his home. When he was arrested Baker was wearing a woman's dress and wig.
Ulmer says Baker lived in his mother's home and had no job. She says he got money from his mother. At times that amount was about $14,000 a month according to Ulmer.
"But she cut him off,” Ulmer says.
Ulmer says Baker has changed dramatically since the 20 years she's known him. She wants nothing to do with him now.
“For 19 years, he was just the most awesome fun crazy guy, but not anymore,” Ulmer says.
