Farr West City mayor dies

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Farr West City Mayor Jimmie Papageorge died Sunday night from medical complications. He was 83 years old.  

Papageorge was the first mayor of Farr West City and served as mayor for 19 years. He also served on the Weber County Blue Ribbon Committee, which was instrumental in getting the New Weber County Fairgrounds. 

Papageorge served Farr West City for over 30 years in several different aspects, including serving on the Bona Vista Water Improvement District, the Farr West Park District, the Farr West Sewer Improvement District and was a member of Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park Board.

Papageorge was on the Western Irrigation Company Board, serving as president for over 30 years. 

Weber County Sheriff Terry Thompson released a statement Tuesday saying "Mayor Papageorge generously gave much in the way of his own personal funds to make many of the events happen which benefited Farr West City residents and the greater Weber County community... he will be sorely missed."
