PAYSON, Utah (ABC 4 News) - On Sunday, Jeffery Vern Jensen's parents stopped by the place their son was gunned down for the first time.
"He just didn't deserve to go like this," said his mother Wendy Jensen.
Wendy remembers her son, always helping.
"Jeff will do anything for anyone. He was there for his nieces and nephews. He was there for my husband and I. He was there for his grandparents," said Wendy.
Jeff spent Friday morning doing what he loved--playing football with his nephews.
"I don't want people to think of Jeff as a drug dealer. He was lurred to this location. He had been out at the Wal-mart Christmas shopping, excited about Christmas, excited about buying gifts for his nieces and nephews, and they had intended on robbing him," explained Wendy.
Police say Jeff had a different side, one that his parents couldn't understand. Officers say Jensen had an addiction to prescription drugs, and that addiction made him an easy target for other addicts whoe believed he had money.
"Just picturing him up there being shot in the chest. It's been horrifying to us. These kids searched his pockets, and his car, and left Jeff there to die, you know, on his face. And then the first thing I see on the news is the truck door with Jeff's blood all over it," Wendy said through tears. "He was making some bad choices, and we were trying to work through those. He didn't deserve what happened to him."
Jeff's parents thanked the community for their love, support and prayers. The funeral will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m.
