SALT LAKE, Utah (ABC 4 News) – Derek Hough has a way with the ladies and he’s got the moves to prove it.
Derek’s dancing days began in Orem and he has held a huge fan base across Utah.
Many watched him and partner Shawn Johnson make their debut on the dance floor against an all star cast during the Dancing with the Stars premiere on Sept. 24.
“I’m not going to lie,” Hough said. “The men are really strong this season.”
Hough believes he has what it takes to win a fourth mirror ball trophy this season. He is the only DWTS member to be crowned a three time champion.
Hough credits his Utah roots for his success.
“I’ve been all over the world,” he said. “I’ve always felt Utah has some of the highest level of dancers.”
Especially young dancers like Jenacie Boren. The teen won the chance to dance with Derek on stage at the Tanger Outlets in Park City.
“That’s all I wanted for my thirteenth birthday,” Jenacie said, with tears in her eyes.
She said another life dream of hers is to one day perform on Dancing with the Stars.
