Driver Slides Off Road, Hits Highway Patrol Officer's Car

SEVIER COUNTY, Utah. (ABC 4 News)- A Utah Highway Patrol trooper was struck in his car, Friday, as he was investigating a crash.

The roads were snow covered and very slick. A second vehicle that was driving too fast for the dangerous conditions lost control and hit the trooper’s patrol car.

The accident happened on I-70 in Clear Creek Canyon, near mile marker 15, around 5 p.m.

UHP Trooper Rod Elmer was inside his car at the time, and he suffered minor injuries. The driver of the second vehicle also had minor injuries.

Both individuals were taken by ambulance to the hospital in Richfield and released a short time later.

Sevier County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
