DRAPER, Utah (ABC 4 News) - According to the Salt Lake County Jail, Mikhail Alejandro Russell-Torres has been officially charged with first degree murder in the death of his 1 month old baby.
Along with the first degree murder charge, Russell-Torres also faces second degree charges of child abuse and a first degree charge of aggravated murder.
According to police, officers were dispatched to a report of a 1 month old baby that had reportedly drowned while being given a bath by the father, 24-year-old Russell-Torres.
Police say the baby went into cardiac/respiratory arrest, and that officers and emergency personnel performed CPR before the baby was flown to Primary Children's Medical Center in critical condition.
Police say Draper officers conducted an investigation into the possibility of child abuse, and determined that the baby had sustained injuries consistent with "shaken baby syndrome".
