SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - If you are a Direct TV customer and you want to watch the Utes on the Pac-12 Network, it isn't going to happen. Direct TV and the Pac-12 have not reached a distribution agreement.

The Pac-12 sent out a letter to their fans yesterday outlining the issue. Part of that letter read, "with only a few hours remaining before the kickoff of the season, we are writing to inform our fans that we do do not have a distribution agreement with Direct TV."

In Pac-12's statement, they went as far as to encourage their fans to switch TV providers to make sure they see all of the Pac-12 action.

Direct TV sent a statement to ABC4 as well. They said, "We do not have an agreement that will be fair for both those customers who want to receive Pac-12 programming and those who don't."

ABC4 spoke to several Utah fans who use Direct TV. They are obviously angry and go as far as threaten to switch providers.

Chris Foukas said, "It's the mere fact that if we want the luxury of watching our team we need a provider to give us that."

But trying to stay positive, he said it could be worse. He could cheer for the Cougars!

Foukas said, "I'd rather be in this situation than be a BYU fan!"

When you have a new network just starting out, you can usually guarantee that it won’t be picked up by all providers right away, although as subscribers we all wish they would. DirecTV has their reasons for not wanting to carry the channel nationwide that would involve their yearly price increase to go higher next year. I had come to conclusion that Dish wouldn’t have Pac-12 either, but as I was wrapping my shift up there on Friday I got word that a deal was made and Pac-12 would be on channel 413. I enjoyed the game, but it looks like my Buffs might have a tough year ahead of them, especially looking at the fourth quarter, but at least I got to watch the game.
