SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A 17.5 percent property tax increase may be coming to Salt Lake County residents.
Thursday morning County Mayor Peter Corroon announced his $788 million county budget for 2013, calling for a $30.0 million property tax increase.
The Mayor said this year there would be no more budget cuts for the county, instead a property tax increase.
Mayor Corroon said, "At the end of the day I decided we had made significant cuts for years and it was time to face a tax increase after 12 years."
The tax increase will cost about $64 dollars a year for an average county household. Homeowners will see the increase in November 2013.
