I was on Weber State Campus when the funeral was in process. the campus was solemn and many wore the blue ribbon remembering officer Francom. Although, he died in the line of duty, this funeral was more for the family, his fellow officers and the city. To those who protest the use of tax payer dollars, get over it! I also pay taxes and am glad that he received the recognition he deserved. As for the protestors from Kansas, have you nothing better to do with your time and efforts than harassing grieving family members? Follow the teachings of the God you profess to believe and love one another, show compassion to one another. Christ washed the feet of the disciples in an act of service and compassion. He raised Lazarus from the dead in an act of compassion for his grieving family. I do not believe He would condone your actions. To the young family of officer Francom, may your hearts be comforted in the future when the days of public mourning are over and you must face the day without fanfare. I pray that you will be sent the Comforter to soothe your aching heart, strengthen your will to go on, and give you peace. May you have pride in the service he gave, in the honorable way he gave his life may you find peace and remember him as only you can.

I believe that everyone should beable to mourn in their own way. But, I have two questions? Who paid for all the gas for the 500 officers to drive their vehicles? And, were all those officers paid to attend his service? Because I pay for my own vehicle to attend any service and I don't get paid to go to any service. And, as a tax payer I would not want to fund this practice. All public servants choose their field of work and death is a reality. I don't use marijuana or any other substance but, if marijuana was legal right now these officers would be home with their families.

I think they need to go back to the basics and read the Bible they profess to believe in and maybe spend some time in prayer to God. Maybe they should put them selves in the position of a family memeber who just lost someone they love. God be with the Family and Friends of Jared Francom.

please plese dont not think that everyone that professes to be Christian are like these people. The bible says we are known by our fruit. These people are an independent group of hate mongers. They do NOT represent your local Christian churches (ie baptist, lutheran, methodist, evangeligals in general) this is not what we teach or believe. Rest in peace brave officer. Our prayers are with you

This is what I think we should do about Westboro Baptist: take them hot chocolate and coffee...it's freezing out there, and I'm sure they must be very cold. Hot cocoa would bless them...which is what Jesus said to do "Pray for your enemies; bless those who curse you..." I wonder what would happen if the church of the Lord Jesus acted on His actual commands...What would it do? what changes would we see if we responded to EVERY one of Westboro's horrible actions, with nothing but loving, warm, blessings.

I have dealt with these folks in the past, unfortunately they will not go away even if they are ignored by the media. They are received by a false charismatic leader and many of them truly believe the garbage they spew. getting angry with Channel 4 for reporting the news is silly.

I'm disgusted that you would even give them any recognition! That's what they are looking for! As long as they keep getting this attention, they will keep coming around!!
