PARK CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - If you watched Monday night’s episode of the Bachelor, you know bachelor Ben is still looking for love. But you may not know he was here in Utah just a few weeks ago for the Sundance Film Festival. Our own bachelor Brian Carlson sat down with Ben for an exclusive interview.
He's the guy living every man's dream.
"Obviously, I'm blessed," said Ben Flajnik, Bachelor contestant.
He’s dating a harem of beautiful women in the most exotic places in the world.
"I hear that a lot, that this is like every guy's fantasy, and everything like that; it can also be every guy's nightmare," said Flajnik.
So to learn the real story behind this reality star, ABC 4 caught up with bachelor Ben when he was in Park City for Sundance, making a cameo on the TV show Extra.
Flajnik said looking for love on national TV takes a lot of patience.
"You get 100 people a day coming up to you and saying 'Are you in love?' and I just have to take a deep breath and say I can't tell you that, instead of something I'd rather say," Flajnik said.
Flajnik showed ABC 4 some of the spots they filmed for the Park City episode at the Canyons which aired last month.
"Park City is amazing especially in early October when we were shooting, and all the leaves were changing colors, and we ended up getting the first snow fall in the rose ceremony night. And so it was just all timely, the God's were smiling down on the Bachelor that evening," he said.
"So God is a Bachelor fan? Is that what you're saying?” Reporter Brian Carlson asked.
“I'd like to hope so,” Flajnik said.
Whether or not God approves of the show, Flajnik said his time in Utah was heaven. Fans may remember Flajnik and the girls went fly fishing here. But what you don't know is he was so seduced by Utah's beautiful countryside, he often snuck away to fish alone.
"My lovely producer would always be like - you know we are on a date here Ben, you can't be fishing the entire time by yourself," said Flajnik.
At ABC 4, we realize many women would kill to sit down with bachelor Ben, so we opened it up to women on facebook "What would you ask Ben if you had the chance?" Among other questions Sharon Moss asks "What is the criteria he goes by?" (when deciding which girls to keep).
"Someone who's passionate, someone who has life experience, some independence really. My mom has always been a very independent strong woman, and so I think growing up with that, it's kind of what I look for,” he said.
Kelly Miller asks "Does he ever worry that getting physical too quickly with a girl ruins the possibility of a good relationship down the line?"
"If some are moving along physically faster than others, you know it doesn't play more of an edge than the next," he said.
Finally, Megan Archibald asks "What kind of hair gel does he use?"
"I don't use any hair gel, I don't. Nothing. All natural," he said.
To prove it he showed it to us. But as for the big question – Is Ben in love?
"I can't tell you that unfortunately," said Flajnik.
