WEST VALLEY, Utah (ABC 4 News) – An apparent love triangle turned violent in West Valley Sunday night when a gunshot blast startled neighbors in the Shadowbrook Apartments.

“I heard a pop from inside my apartment. Didn’t know if it was a firework or a gunshot,” said Michael Evans.

Moments later the injured man stumbled out of an apartment and walked about 1000 feet before collapsing face down in the grass.

“You think you live in a safe community and then this stuff happens,” said Shreatta Reynolds.

Police say a protective order was in place between one of the suspects and the victim.

Neighbors say a wife or girlfriend called the victim to her apartment moments before he was shot.

Police arrested the two suspects; a white man and a white woman.

Emergency crews rushed the victim to an area hospital in critical condition where he received emergency surgery.
