SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Three animal rescue organizations have pitched in $10,000 in reward money, with the hope that authorities will be led to the party responsible for the grisly death of a kitten encased in concrete.
The kitten was discovered after someone heard it crying from inside a pipe set in concrete in Colorado City, a town populated by members of the polygamist Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident that was reported on May 31.

, but the animal died from its injuries a few days later.
Mohave County announced a partnership with three animal advocate organizations in an attempt to determine the person or persons responsible for the torture and death of the kitten.
The organizations providing the reward money are Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah which offered $5,000, Humane Society of the United States, which offered $2,500, and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), which offered $2,500.
