SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Prosecutors have filed amended charges against a Utah man accused in the fatal shooting of police officers during a drug raid.

Court records show Weber County prosecutors have dropped a dangerous weapon enhancement included in the charges originally filed against Matthew David Stewart.

The enhancement could have added up to 10 years to any sentence Stewart might receive if convicted of a felony.

Stewart is charged with one count of capital murder, seven counts of attempted aggravated murder and one count of marijuana production in connection with the Jan. 4 shootout.

Ogden officer Jared Francom was killed and five other officers were injured.

Prosecutors say they plan to seek the death penalty if Stewart is convicted.

A message seeking comment from Stewart's attorney was not immediately returned Tuesday.

Please see Facebook page "Supporters of Matthew David Stewart" to support restrictions on unreasonable search and seizure "guaranteed" (to the 1%) by the 4th and 6th Amendments to the US Constitution. There has been a 4,000% increase in knock and announce (bust the door down) warrants per year since the 80s according to USA Today report supported by evidence, unlike the Stewart warrant. They went by the word of an ex-girlfriend and nothing else; seriously!

I would love to see what type of bullets hit the officers. Why police seem they can violate the sanctity of an American citizen,&& A VETERANS home anytime they want to cook up a warrent. They shouldn't be surprised when they get shot breaking into a home at night.
