ALPINE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Residents in Alpine Cove were told they just had minutes to get anything they could and get out. One couple ABC 4 spoke with said they had a gut feeling this day was coming and they actually put all their special belongings into boxes and were ready to go when they got the call.

All John and Jeri Walton could do was watch and wait and field calls from worried family members.

"We're just watching the fire,” said Jeri Walton to her son on the other end of the cell phone. “It's mostly going up the east side of the mountain."

Luckily they were prepared. They had everything they needed to just get up and go.

"We got the computers, all the family history and the albums we could,” said Walton.

Believe it or not, they started packing for the evacuation last Thursday.

John Walton said, "We spend some time last week getting the things that are irreplaceable pulled together in boxes ready to go so when the police came we had a lot of heavy lifting already done."
