HYDE PARK, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A Logan woman who learned about Nichole Clark’s freak accident and death on ABC 4 is buying her a burial plot to assist the grieving girl’s family in its time of need.
Clark died Monday after she fell onto the broken blind rod. The injury severed one of her main arteries near her left collar bone. The loss of blood left the little girl brain dead and her family with massive medical bills.
Dianne Crockett of Logan said the stories on ABC 4 broke her heart and prompted her to buy a burial plot worth $650 in the Hyde Park City Cemetery. Nichole's plot sits next to her great-grandmother grave and is surrounded by mountains. The gesture is bringing some comfort to her family during this very difficult time.
Crockett was an emergency room nurse for 33-years and is working in her third year as a hospice nurse. She said the years of watching parents lose children has softened her heart and prompted her to reach out and personally help.
Crockett has withdrawn money from her own bank account to buy burial plots for babies when she felt prompted to help.
Crockett says she receives more by giving in this way because she knows it provides some sort of comfort to grief stricken families.
ABC 4 reached out to Nichole Clark's uncle to ask him to respond to Crockett’s gesture. "Before we thought there was nothing to be thankful for. This woman has shown us a whole new side of life. We are very thankful," said Tom Clark.
Crockett was speechless when ABC 4 shared his reaction with her. Nichole's funeral is scheduled for Nov., 24 in the Hyde Park City Cemetery.
