UINTAH, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Kevin Richter never thought he would be caught in a swift water rescue trying to grab his son out of the swift moving current of the Weber River.
“It was very scary. The most scared I’ve ever been in my life,” says Richter.
His 9 year old son Thomas was caught in the current of the stream after the raft he, his younger brother, and his father were all riding in hit a tree branch, and it tossed them all out.
“When I saw the log, I panicked. I didn’t think we would make it,” says Thomas.
His 7 year old brother was quickly fished out of the water by his father, but Thomas was long gone.
“I couldn’t breathe, but I found land and got on,” says Thomas.
This was where his father and emergency workers later found him down stream. He was scared, but he was alive and sitting on a piece of dry land waiting to be rescued.
“The Lord blessed us.”
