VERNON, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A 7-year-old boy was injured when his motorcycle collided with an ATV in Tooele County Sunday afternoon.

The Tooele County Sheriff's office says the boy was riding a 50 cc motorcycle on a trail at a popular recreation site near Vernon when he collided with a Rhino ATV, driven by a 40-year-old woman.

Officials say the boy was traveling in a wooded area where trails merge. His vehicle, as well as the ATV, approached a crossroad at the same time. He tried to swerve and avoid the collision, but was thrown under the ATV.

He was flown by medical helicopter to Primary Children's Medical Center in stable condition. He suffered broken bones and a laceration to his face.

The boy was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
