I can't believe the horrible cruelty of people! What we are going through is torturous enough. How dare you judge my family and my sweet boy. Accidents can happen to anyone! Watch your tongues. The headstone was already tipping and just sitting on the base, just waiting for someone to bump it. It was tall and fairly thin. Not designed as they are these days. It was from 1886 for petes sake, the mortar holding it to the base was eroded and completely gone. My son happened to be behind this particular headstone and put his hand on it to peek over and make the kids smile for the picture when it instantly toppled back over on him. We didn't even have a split second to tell him to come out from behind it. We were right there, just a few feet away. Carson was a wonderful little boy that was just trying to be helpful. He was NOT being crazy and playing and climbing around. My heart breaks every minute that I have to live without him. I'm so hurt that you would judge my boy and my family when you have absolutely NO grounds to judge. As if what I now have to live with isn't enough without you inflicting other hurtful wounds on my already broken heart.

The horrid things that some of you have said on here should be so ashamed of yourselves, your disrespect for this grieving family and little boy are far worse then any playful activity that child was doing that day. It's sad and hard to believe that people can be so cruel, especially in such a tragic time, my heart truly goes out to this small boys family, I'm so sorry for your loss.

It's too bad a little boy died. It's just as bad that his parents are so disrespectful that they allow their 4 year old to climb on tombstones. Sorry, but I don't feel compelled to donate to your funeral expenses either. If you have a child you should have money for college that you can use -it's not like you were battling cancer for years & your bank accounts are drained. I really do feel sorry for the little boy, but wish parents would actually parent these days.

So very sad and my deepest condolences to the family. I can't imagine any one EVER letting a child climb a tombstone. It's so utterly disrespectful. I've been visiting cemeteries since I was tiny, as my family had lost newborn children (premature)so we always visited the gravesites. We were always taught to show respect to all the graves. Climbing? An insult.

4 year old boys do what they do. Why judge the poor little boy? It's tragic and sad and could have happened to anyone. Many people find cemeteries interesting as photography areas. I like them, too. Many go to take pictures for other people who request them and its' a hobby for many to volunteer to help. Findagrave.com is one such place. So choose your words carefully, please. You never know the whole story until your in a mans' shoes.

My condolences to the family, such a tragedy. May the good Lord comfort them in their profound grief by the sure knowledge this precious child is in Heaven.

Little brat shouldn't have been treating the gravestones like his own personal jungle gym.

I am a close friend of the family and wanted to let everyone know that we have set up a donation fund for the family through Zions Bank. If anyone would like to donate they just need to visit any Zions bank branch and make a deposit to the "Zac Cheney Donation". They can also mail a check to the Lehi branch at 620 East Main Street Lehi, UT 84043.

I cannot imagine the sorrow the family is going through. This boy should have not been treating a headstone as a plaything in the first place. I was taught very early on to be quiet and respectful in cemeteries. My family would have never tolerated me climbing all over where people are laid to rest. So sad this happened.

Kind of silly to think it just fell over on its own. A real tragedy that could have been averted by people not treating cemeteries as public playgrounds.
