OGDEN, Utah (AP) - Weber County deputies say two men escaped just in the nick of time before their pickup truck was destroyed by a train.
Authorities tell the Standard-Examiner the crash happened about 11 p.m. Tuesday in unincorporated Weber County, near West Warren.
Sheriff's Sgt. Jason Talbot says a Chevy pickup was on a dirt road next to the railway and got stuck on the tracks. Authorities say two men in their 20s were inside when they saw a Union Pacific train approaching and leaped from the vehicle.
Deputies say the men weren't injured, but the train was unable to stop and continued for about a mile after hitting the truck.
Talbot says the two men are lucky to be alive, and could possibly face charges for trespassing on Union Pacific property.
