SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Emergency crews responded to the scene of an industrial accident at Rio Tinto's Kennecott copper facility on Tuesday.

A Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office spokesman told ABC 4 News a 47-year-old man was working with compressed air when he hit a puddle of molten metal, causing it to splash him. He was seriously burned on his left side, including his leg, arm, shoulder and face.

The man was transported to the U of U burn center with serious injuries.

The incident happened at the Kennecott facility on 11601 West and Utah Highway 201.
